Summer Fun!
With many of my students getting to the "BORED" stage of summer, here are a few suggestions to keep the summer fun:
1. Find a GREAT book.
Look for a great book to read, maybe even a series. Nothings better to escape the mundane rut than to get into a great story. Here is a good list to start from:
Hangman’s Curse
The Veritas Project series
Peretti, Frank
A mysterious ailment strikes down the popular kids. They’re left delirious, whispering the name of a boy long-ago dead….Why?
This Present Darkness
Peretti, Frank
A small college town becomes the nexus for a battle between evil demons
and angelic forces.
The Vanishings
Left Behind: The Kids series
Jenkins, Jerry B.
In one shocking moment millions disappear. Those left behind face an uncertain future—especially 4 kids who now find themselves alone.
The Youngest Hero
Jenkins, Jerry B.
Elgin is a teenage baseball phenom. Can he step up to the plate & achieve
his dreams amidst a world of over-zealous scouts, hard-nosed coaches,
and money-hungry agents?
2. Make a fun movie
Get together with some friends and a video camera and make a movie or a series of movies that you can show to your friends. Create a movie night each week when you invite your friends over for some popcorn and a special showing of the premiere of your movie.
3. Plan a neighborhood block party
Once again, grab some friends from the neighborhood and plan a party for all the teens in your neighborhood. Come up with crazy games, funny skits and maybe pull some money together an supply some freeze pops.
4. Serve at the church
Lastly, find a way to get involved at the church. I know I am always looking for new ideas and help and to have a team to pull this off makes it fun and easy.
Instead of just sitting around this summer, do something out of the ordinary and make it a summer to remember!!!!
