EPIC HSLT: Day #6

July 21, 2008 By: Ryan Category: Ministry Blogs

VERY VERY VERY VERY sleepy this morning.  Last night was great by very draining.

Thankfully there were no pancakes and bacon this morning.  In fact, I didn’t eat anything.

At 9:00 we were off again to the church for our morning session.  Pastor Chris Martin, Linworth Road Community Church, spoke.  I didn’t hear much of it because I was upstairs getting ready for my teaching session.  My talk was, Influencing Other Without Being Influenced.

This morning, all students whose last names began with an A-G, met in my room.  We looked at the first chapter of Daniel and pointed out that Daniel succeeded to influence those around him by:

1.  Knowing his stuff

2.  Taking a stand

3.  Not wavering

4.  Surrounding himself with like-minded friends

The first session was a lot of fun and we even got to play "Knock down."

We left the church for lunch and then we split up to do some service projects.  Half of our group went to Red Cross while the other half went to Project Lighthouse.

The Red Cross group dremelled cots and put together care packages.  They also had the opportunity to share their faith with one of the teen volunteers there.

The Project Lighthouse group got to help this shelter for runaway teens by handing out care bags and inviting them to a FREE cookout.  The faces of some of the homeless teens were just so empty and hopeless.

That night, the guys stayed in and had Matt Barnett’s special chili, hot wings and ice cream while we watched the movie Flyboys.  I have never heard the word "safety" so much in my life.

The girls went to the beach for a "date night" with God.  As a result, one of our girls, Melody Taylor, came back and asked Anna and I if we could help lead her to Christ.

What a night.  By the end of the night we had two more girls we were going to baptize with two others still considering it.
