EPIC Christmas Gifts

December 05, 2008 By: Ryan Category: Ministry Blogs

As the Christmas season is now upon us and parents are worried about what to do for the students this Christmas, perhaps a gift that will make more impact on them than an IPOD or a new gaming system is in order.

Here are 5 GREAT gifts to give your student(s) this year:

  1. A Retreat and/or Camp.  Perhaps you can take the money that you would normally spend on your student and place an EPIC gift certificate in their stocking for payment to an upcoming EPIC event.
    • MS Dare2Share–January 30-31st.  Cost: $100
    • HS The CHILL–February 13-15th.  Cost: $75
    • Summer Camp–June 15-20th.  Cost: $400
  2. A Bible.  Many of our teens are lacking a good study Bible.  This is the most important Book they will EVER read.  Pick them up their own copy that is both readable and easy to study.
    • My suggestions would be a NIV or TNIV Study Bible.  Either a Student Bible or good study Bible with good footnotes are great options.  You can shop either at Lifeway Christian Store on Powell Road or online at CBD (Christian Book Distributor).
  3. EPIC T-shirt.  We still have EPIC t-shirts available.  You can pick up either a:
    • Story shirt

 epic story shirt (front)

    • or, Ductball shirt

epic ductball shirt (front)

The cost of the shirts are $10.00 a piece or $15.00 for two.

This Christmas, do something different for your student.  Go beyond the normal gifts and think EPIC this season!!

Spiritual Gifts

August 24, 2008 By: Ryan Category: Church, Ministry Blogs

At EPIC we finished our Directions series with a look at finding and developing our spiritual gifts.  We handed each of our students a simple test.  You can take a look at the test here: Spiritual Gift Test

We looked at the importance of our gifts and why we should use them using 1 Corinthians 12 as our base.

We ended our High School time by brainstorming practical ways we can implement and use our spiritual gifts.

My prayer is that we not only know what our gifts are but we also know how to use them to bring glory to God!!

This whole series stemmed from a "town hall meeting" we had with our high school students.  You can read about it here: Next Three Steps of EPIC
