Juggling Elephants
I just finished an extraordinary book by Jones Loflin and Todd Musig titled, Juggling Elephants: An Easier Way to Get Your Most Important Thing Done–Now!
I love this book for a number of reasons:
- very easy ready
- short story format
- key points highlighted
- incredibly practical and applicable to life and ministry
The premise of the book is that we all live in a three ring circus and each of these rings represent an important area of our life that often times seem chaotic in and of themselves but when performed together seems as if we are juggling elephants.
These three rings are:
- work
- relationships (spouse, children, staff, friends, etc)
- self
Here are some of the MANY important points made in the book:
- the result of juggling elephants is that no one, including you, is thrilled with the performance.
- the ringmaster has the greatest impact on the success of the circus.
- the key to the success of the circus is having quality acts in all three rings.
- every act must serve as purpose.
- and many more!
This really is a must read for every body in ministry and would be a great gift for your volunteers as well.
