Recently Read Books

August 22, 2009 By: Ryan Category: Culture, Personal

Do to a couple of things that have come up recently in my studies and in my life I have found myself reading back to back Jon Krakauer books.  The two books I have just finished reading are:

Into the Wild

into the wild

Into the Wild is the story of Chris McCandless.  It is an extremely fascinating story.  One I encourage all to read.  It is also a quick and very easy read.

Under the Banner of Heaven

UnderTheBannerOfHeaven

Under the Banner of Heaven is a not only a vivid account of the murder of a mother and her 15 month old daughter by the hands of two brothers, it is also a great historical explanation of the Mormon church.  I have really enjoyed reading how the church came into being and where it stands today.

Both of these books have been great reads.  Looking forward to tackling the other books sitting on my desk.

Cinderella and story behind it . . .

Here is the song Cinderella which Steven Curtis Chapman wrote with his daughters in mind.  Watch the video and then the second video in which he shares the story behind the song . . .

Broken

May 21, 2008 By: Ryan Category: God

I am broken to hear about the tragic death of Steven Curtis Chapman’s daughter, Maria.  Through a horrible accident in which his older son played a tragic role, Maria was hit and killed by a vehicle driven by teen.

My heart breaks in so many different levels.  Every time I hear the song, Cinderella, my heart will break for the Chapman family.

Pray, Pray, Pray that God will use this horrendous tragedy for His glorification and that the Chapman family will be surrounded and be able to rest in the peace that passes all understanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
