Connection Cookouts

April 30, 2009 By: Ryan Category: Church, Ministry Blogs

At Grace Point, we have Connection Cookouts.  These cookouts are designed for us to get to know newer families in the church and those families to get to know us better as well.  Terry (our senior pastor) and Kelly open their home for this event.  It creates an informal setting for intentional connections and discussion.

Tonight’s and last week’s were.  I really enjoyed getting to know these newer families.

State of the Summer address

July 23, 2008 By: Ryan Category: Life

As we sit here in the middle of the summer, sweating from the humidity and I am sure filling full from all the family cookouts and get-togethers, I think it is important to ask ourselves, "what have I gotten out of the summer so far?"

What do I mean by that?

Some of you have the goal of just sit back and relaxing for the summer, which in not entirely bad, but if that is all you hope to get out of it, you have missed the mark,

Some other goals of most people during the summer:

1.  Play as many video games as possible

2.  Sleep more hours than awake

3.  Change the color of their skin (and possibly add to the medical bills due to skin/sun disorders)

4.  Do as little as possible in the most amount of time

Instead our goals should be a little higher–and when I say higher, I mean more toward what God would desire of us.  Here are a couple that I am evaluating my summer on:

1.  Meet at least 2 new people a week and begin developing relationships with them.

2.  Know the needs of my neighbors

3.  Do something loving to someone I don’t know, each week.

4.  Since I seem to have more time, spend more time with developing my relationship with God.

I am sure you can come up with many more.  This is just to get you thinking about what you have done so far and what you are going to do with your summer!!!!
