EPIC Vision Retreat

May 20, 2010 By: Ryan Category: Leadership, Ministry Blogs

Excited about heading to Camp Otyokwah this weekend for an EPIC Vision retreat.  I am heading up tonight to spend time in prayer and planning and then will have some of the EPIC staff team join me Friday night and Saturday.

Here are some questions we posed to our leaders:

What do you want to see accomplished in EPIC in the next 365 days?

What does the process look like to achieve that goal?

What needs to be done to see that accomplished?

Who might we need to bring on to the team to help us achieve this goal?

Please pray that God would give us direction and peace concerning the vision for EPIC and the focus for the next 365 days for our students and their family’s.

The CHILL Poem

February 19, 2010 By: Ryan Category: Ministry Blogs

This year’s CHILL was designed to help our students become ONE with God and each other.  After our first night’s talk by Tony Pingitore, one our junior girls, Cailin Coane, penned this poem during a SOLO time:

jagged glass

Soul –shaper, heart-breaker,

How long before the dark pain ends?

You said you’d fix me, feed me, show me,

Now I’m waiting for your promise to send . . .

When will the healing begin?

Broken, bruised, and battle-weary,

I came to you to heal my soul

But wounds and scars were rediscovered,

Heartache, sorrow left uncovered

Blood and tears drained out fill up my bowl

When will you give me control?

My own hands broke my heart in pieces,

A scattered life worth less than jagged glass

I glued it together, torn and tattered,

Fragile, weak, ripped and shattered

And watched tears fall as it broke again

And so I offered it to you . . .

You tore me up! You smashed me down!

You ground the points into my suffering

But you take my shame and guilt, my story,

Into a mosaic worth your love and glory

And so now it’s my offering . . .

The artist’s hand knows better than

The work of art could ever know

And so now I take my shattered life

And I finally give you control.

Lake Ann–Day #5 Lesson

June 22, 2009 By: Ryan Category: Ministry Blogs

Wanted to share with you the last message from our week at camp.  Ken Rudolph spoke to a combined chapel group (6th-12th grade).

Four Ways to Have the Hand of God On Your Life

Text:  Nehemiah 2

God puts you in a place so you can influence it.

#1.  Have a Passion to Help the Church (1.4)

  • God is not looking for deadbeats.  He is looking for passionate people.
  • Quit slumping around like a dying fish.
  • Bring your Bible and start participating.
  • Be a helper instead of a hinderer.

#2.  Have a Passion for Prayer (1.4)

  • Not just a one time prayer but an ongoing, passionate conversation with God.
  • Prayer saves the world.
  • Start by praying for your own life.

#3.  Have a Passion to Clean Up Our Lives (1.6-9)

  • The greatest thrill in life is to have a right relationship with God.
  • We can’t live for God and live in sin at the same time.

#4.  Have a Passion to be Used by God (1.10-11)

  • You have to be available to God 24/7.
  • Go where He wants you to go.
  • Do what He wants you to do.

We need this generation to rebuild the walls of the church!!!!
